David Wright made a new record Friday night

Wright's victory over the Marlins was the 836th of his career at third base, the most starts at the position in franchise history. "Johnson has a World Series ring, he will still have that over me," Wright told the New York Daily News. "He was all about winning, and that's what I am about, too, so he still has me beat." "That's pretty rewarding," said Johnson, the Mets' hitting coach. "I am happy for the kid. To see someone we've worked with move up here and do what we hoped he'd do, that's really nice."

Wright told the media that Johnson has been more than just a hitting coach. "He made sure I played the game right. He worked on my mind, too," Wright said. "That's why I worked so hard on the whole game. He not only talked to me about hitting, but about stealing bases, making sure I was playing defense hard, too."
